DX announces chosen corporate charities for 2017
Leading independent mail, parcels and logistics end-to-end network operator in the UK and Ireland, DX, today announces that it will be supporting three charities over the coming year; Action Medical Research, Battle Batten and CLIC Sargent.
The logistics firm will be running fundraising events throughout the year, encouraging employees to think of creative and fun ways to raise as much money as possible. On top of this, DX has pledged to match the money raised, up to £50,000. All money raised over the course of the 12 months will be equally divided between the three charities;
- Action Medical Research raises vital funds to support medical research, aiming to beat the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children.
- The parents of Freddie & Louie launched the Battle Batten campaign to raise funds for research into the cruel CLN5 Batten Disease, devastating their twin boys’ lives, for which there is currently no cure.
- The largest of the three chosen charities, CLIC Sargent, provides vital support to young cancer patients and their families, taking their knowledge and experience to service providers and policy makers, to help change things for the better.
Stuart Godman, Chief Strategy Officer at DX, comments:
“We invited all the charities to present their stories to us, and it is safe to say that there wasn’t a single dry eye in the house. We couldn’t choose between the three, so instead decided to support them all. As a business we are committed and passionate about giving back to the communities that we serve, this year we are focusing on charities aimed at helping children who are battling life changing diseases, such as cancer, and CLN5 Batten Disease.”
In support of the announcement, Toby Tennant, Head of Relationship Fundraising at Action Medical Research, comments:
“We are very proud to be among the three charities DX is supporting over the next 12 months. There are hundreds of thousands of children in the UK whose lives are devastated by disease and disability. It’s too many. Far too many. We need support to fund vital research to develop new treatments and cures for sick babies and children which is why the support of DX staff is so important.”
Nichola Doran, Regional Fundraising Manager at CLIC Sargent, comments:
“We are delighted DX has chosen to support our work, its support will make a real difference to the lives of young people with cancer.”
“Thanks to DX’s backing, CLIC Sargent’s dedicated team of nurses, social workers and other vital services will be able to support even more children, young people and their families through the hardest of times.”
Sarah Dawkins, Co-Founder at Battle Batten, comments:
“We are overwhelmed not only to be nominated, but to be chosen as one of DX’s charities this year. This support has given us a much needed boost in confidence as we have only been fundraising as a family for just over two years. So far, we have privately funded two research projects into Batten disease CLN 5 to try to help our twin sons Freddie and Louie, but this vital research needs to continue.”
“Batten disease is always fatal, there is no treatment or cure. Without research we have no hope to find therapies that could help children affected by this awful disease.”
