DX Document Exchange is our private business-to-business network that provides a fast, trusted and secure delivery service for the legal and professional services sectors.
Established in 1975, ‘The Document Exchange’ swiftly became the legal sector’s preferred document delivery service. Today it is also widely used by the public sector and professional services companies of all kinds.

The DX Document Exchange service provides reliable, next day delivery of documents to other members of the network, connecting lawyers and associated professionals across the UK and Ireland. Contracts, deeds, property settlements, financial agreements, barristers’ briefs and original official documents are all carried via the service.
Delivery is overnight by 9am as standard, with collection after 5pm to maximise the working time available for documents.
With no need to stamp, manifest, frank or weigh mail, members can simply address and send letters and parcels up to 25kg.
A number of enhancements to the service enable it to accommodate a range of specific user requirements:
- DX Tracked Mail – this lets you send original, urgent or important documents or parcels to other DX members for just £5.00 per label, adding the reassurance of tracked delivery to the Exchange; email confirmation that items are en route; courier scan upon delivery and up to £30 compensation.
- SecureDX – if you’re sending high-value, urgent or important documents or parcels to postal addresses, rather than to other DX members, this gives you fast, flexible and tracked next day delivery from just £5.85 per label. You can check the status of items via the DX website at any time, and the service includes free, tamper-evident pouches.
- DX Mailshot – if you want to promote your business and/or services to DX members, DX Mailshot lets you do so securely, reliably and cost-effectively using mailings. With over 10,000 members in the Legal, Finance, Insurance and Public Sectors, DX Mailshot allows accurate targeting of both established customers and prospects.

How the process works

Joining
An organisation such as a law firm or an individual barrister becomes a member of the Exchange.

Onboarding
The new member is given a DX number and receives a welcome pack with the key/s for their DX box and/ or Exchange if required.

Sending
Mail is sent using a DX number and taken to a local Exchange.

Collection from Exchange
Mail is collected from the sender’s local Exchange for overnight transit.

Delivery to Exchange
Mail reaches the receiving member’s numbered DX box in their local Exchange by 9am the next day. Members can receive text/email alerts of delivery.
